A series in the works
Thursday, October 16th, 2008I think these would make cute illustrations for a kids book – I must have been inspired by sweet baby Ava.
Painted on birch wood, all the outlines have been pain-stakingly burned in, acrylic paint, water color pencil, and paper used also.
Moon…

Sun…

I have two more in sketches that need to be painted (when I can get more wood)…. wind and rain.
A teeny tiny bit of art
Monday, October 13th, 2008I love these mini canvases! They are so much fun to paint on – but I gotta say – a tiny painting seems to take just as long as a big one.
Capture: Trio of Silver
Saturday, October 11th, 2008This week’s challenge on the art*essence blog is silver. I was surprised how little silver I actually have in my studio. I came up with paint brush ferrels, the handle to my vintage 3 tier dish (that I use as my table ‘catch all”) and my little fan that I love so much. Are you going to play along too? We need more players :)

Dreams?
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008
Isn’t it fun how our day can influfence our dreams? That happened to my me yesterday/last night. I was talking and remenissing with a friend who I miss like crazy and in the evening I was uploading Rolling Stone songs to my phone and listening to it as I fell asleep. I dreamt we were celebrating the sucess of one of his shows and The Stones were playing in the background. Too funny.
art*essence capture: fave tools
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008My fave tools change alot becaue I do mixed-media stuff, but it seems no matter what I’m workng on, I still reah for the same stuff…. my computer to help me research imagery and tweek my photos, my bamboo digital pen for editing/generating images fo my art, my gel medium for sticking it down and adding texture, my paints, graphite penic and brush, and last but not leas- my trusty water container that I can’t live without. It originally had some tasty treat from Trader Joes in it, but now it holds my water for painting. It has a lid which comes in handy when you have silly cats that think it’s fun to drinky ‘painty water’.
