Lion brand yarn has oodles of free patterns so for my 2nd knitting project, I’m working on a Cuddle Bunny for my darling g-baby Ava. It will be my first time reading and using a pattern, but luckily I have an awesome yarn shop in town and they are showing me the ropes.

Coffee Filter Garland… my version
Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Pam Garrison set the stage with her coffee filter garland that she created after being inspired by an Anthropologie display. She used white and brown filters, colored tissue and sheet music. I didn’t have colored tissue, so I dyed my filters and they came out great. I also used vintage buttons to add more pizazz.
Making these is pretty easy… string up the filters and you have a garland, but if you would like a step-by-step tutorial for exactly how I made mine, with photos, tips, etc, you can purchase my 6 page pdf, via PayPal. All proceeds will go directly to the vet fund for my sick kitty Goliath.
Click Here to buy it for just $5 it wil help pay for my cat’s ongoing medicine and vet bills
THANK YOU !!!
I’m not trying to make $$$ with the tutorial, it’s more of a fundraiser for Goliath’s vet bill, but if that’s not your thing, that’s ok. Email me and I’ll send you the pdf for free :) My email address is tracy at artwerx.us

A Tea Treat … you must try if you haven’t already
Monday, March 23rd, 2009After a very long week of high maintenance personalities, a sick kitty, a broken blog… I treated myself to a little tea luxury.
Forte is my absolute favorite tea. It’s super high quality and the flavor can’t be beat. Then there’s the artful appeal, with the silken pyramid infuser. It just makes you smile and when you smell it in your cup and taste it…. well all your worries just float away with each steaming sip.
While in Reedsport, where our vet is located, I picked up a few of my fave Earl Greys, and tried Flora. Oh my word, is it soooo delicious! It’s Hibiscus… it brews red… it’s sweet and delicious!
I also picked up the cafe cup because I don’t like it when my infuser bobs around… you really need the special lid so that it sits in your water nicely and the flavor can come out and mingle in the water. The cup was such a treat to open from the box. It’s a wooden box, so you know I’ll be altering that later, and then inside it was wrapped up in my favorite shade of green tissue paper. Bliss!
I would love to get the ‘dessert’ cups too. They are smaller in size, meant for brewing the teas stronger, and have nifty bamboo covers that act as the lid to hold the tea infuser in place while brewing, then you slip the cup in it to ask as cool sleeve for drinking it. They have a whole line of teas that are perfect dessert teas. Oh the addiction continues!
I am a sucker for great packaging
Thursday, March 5th, 2009I love great packaging… and when I oohed and aawed over my favorites on this page, I noticed I love the plain simple ones with a great graphic of what ‘flavor’ it is.
Am I guilty of buying something for the sheer love of the package? You betcha! Check out these great ones…

I thought I bookmarked my other collections, but of course I can’t find them now. If you happen to have bookmarked your fave collections of wonderful packaging, share the link :)
I heart creepy
Friday, February 6th, 2009Correction…. I saw the ad for Caroline and immediately though it was a Tim Burtan film, but it’s not… it’s directed by Henry Selick, who also directed A Nightmare Before Christmas. Thanks to Karen for setting me straight.
It’s not even playing in my tiny town… I have to either go to Coos Bay or Eugene to see it.
Coraline.com is the movie site and there’s cool things to do on there, like making neat-o flowers or giving yourself button eyes. {In the movie, the villiness likes to steal children’s souls and sew buttons in their eye sockets}
Here are my creepy pictures…
Tweeting on Twitter
Saturday, January 3rd, 2009Reading on the topic of getting blogs noticed, art noticed, etc. I keep seeing ‘join Twitter‘ over and over. So I did. If you aren’t already tweeting on Twitter, you might not know what it is…
It’s basically ‘micro-blogging’…. you post what you are doing at any given minute of the day, or where you are browsing on the internet, etc. Other Twitter members “follow” you, generating interest in what you are doing. (Tweeting is their cute term for posting)
Hmm…. for most times it’s hard to come up with a normal blog post that might appeal to more than one person, so I’m not convinced that following me around my day and hearing when I eat cereal will be much fun, LOL. On the upside though … you can ‘tweet’ from your cell phone, so when you do have something ingenious to share… it can be done on the fly and you don’t have to log onto your computer.
So…. if you want to know all the little details of my life….

art*essence is on it’s way!!!

So happy
Wednesday, September 10th, 2008I’m so happy that I’m in Suzi’s class…. I’m not only getting so much out of it, but it’s giving me the reason/excuse to get some studio time in.
Check out my slide show of the steps in creating a painting on the birch plywood. CLICK HERE for the”full screen” version to get the best view.

Getting my homework done
Sunday, August 24th, 2008Well you know me and journals… I love to collect them, but I’m not good at keeping at it. I guess I’ll have to make an exception for art goddess Suzi Blu. For Suzi Blu… I would do anything ;)
Part of our homework is to create a healing art journal. Nuturing our feelings while we do our art is important to Suzi, so the journal is required. I made mine from paper bags, binding it with those circluar binder clips so I can add more pages if needed (ha!), and tying it up with fun ribbons. The built in pockets from the opening of the bags lends itself to tucking in my sketches, poems, or whatever. Fun!

1. homework: healing art journal * side, 2. homework: healing art journal, 3. homework: healing art journal * binding
Oh check out that clear ribbon in the last pic… that’s new in my shop! (shameless plug)
