Glass domes… under my spell

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

There are certain things that should just not enter my home…. because they always have an untimely death: those being indoor plants and glass domes.

I’ve alway wanted a collection of glass domes, especially old ones, but I can never, ever find them at yard sales or thrift shops, so I have purchased them here and there in stores.  They somehow always end up broken.  My most favorite of all was a huge one I spent way too much money on… and I put it over my gingerbread house last year (keeping it safe from kitty cat tounges) and I forgot it in Canada (took it up there for our Christmas dinner table).  Drat – it broke before they could send it back.  All year went by and then this fall I found a sweet one, that had a mosiac base it sat upon, in the garden center of a local dept. store.  Today it went sailing off the coffee table, at the speed of light, along with picture frames, coffee cups and the bird and nest/eggs that were on display inside it.  Yes, my darling horrible cats were chasing eachother and sailed across the table and took everything with them.  Uugh.

But I didn’t dispair for long…. I looked at this little, naked, mosaic base and could see nothing but the base for my new cage skirt I’ll be making for a new art doll.  Yes – from tragidy came creativity and nothing could have pleased me more because I’ve been fresh out of ideas for months.  I am off to sketch my new ‘garden’ girl out now…. she’ll be just what spring needs to arrive with a bang!

My name is Tracy, and I’m a snow stalker.

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

I have my list of web cams that point to various areas where I used to live in Canada… and I watch for any signs of white on the ground. I refresh the pages, excitedly watching falling snow and wishing it were here, instead of the wet wet rain. The wind and rain come in sheets that blow sideways and well… quite frankly… it bites. So I pray to dear Jack Frost to make it colder and colder so the snow can fall and put a beautiful blanket over our town.

This is our sweet Emma…. with visions of sugar plums…. or maybe sugar mice, dancing in her little fluffy head.

Dreaming of sugar plums

Weather update : My hopes for snow are squashed.  We have a high wind warning in effect… to be gusting up to 100 mph and a high surf warning for flooding.  Uggh, not the kind of winter storm I had in mind.

plugging forth

Saturday, July 8th, 2006

My second and last Tauk Tour art sale is coming up. Since I was overwhelmingly unsuccessful last time – I’m adding a few ‘sell out’ items. I had a great response to my art from people coming up and telling me they loved it, but I didn’t sell any. They (the Tauk tour tourists) bought up all the lighthouse and coasty stuff instead. So, in my big quest to actualy SELL some art, I’m going to make what I hope/think will sell. Is that selling out? I feel like it is – I mean if I’m producing not what I want, but by the demand of the consumer, I’m not following my heart/vision. Oh well, I guess I can’t afford to be picky.

I’ve made a few more digital layouts… click to see them full size.

This one was taken on Canada day – on our drive home from Lincoln City. The sunset was spectacular.

This one is my sweetie cat, Emma. She our resident fluff ball of love.

In my attempt to make my myself feel better, and put a close to my pitty party, I bought myself a hydrangea, since I’ve managed to keep my haning basket alive that my kids got for me for mother’s day. My sweet kitties are check’n it out.

Flossing

Sunday, June 4th, 2006

This evening one of my cats {Emma} drove me bonkers by finding every scrap of ribbon/fiber I own. She’s an avid flosser. Yes flosser. She loves to put ribbon in her mouth, hold onto one end with her paw on the floor, then floss. Then I’m left with wet, nasty ribbon…. shrivelled up in a pile on the floor. At least she doesn’t eat it I guess. So tonight she found my stash and if there was even a hint of it poking out, she buffed her pearly whites with it. My fabulous feline seems to floss more than I do – wierd.

The Misadventures of Miss Mew

Friday, March 3rd, 2006
Yesterday, after the tough task of cleaning out my turtle tank, my cat jumped in it. She loves to sit on top of the screened lid and I guess she figured it was on. We had just put the tank back, and went to get the lid and sploosh – Mew went all the way in. She was out in a second, but her wet soppy trail was all over the house till we got her dried off. She blew out the computer monitor in her dripping path – let’s hope it just takes a few days to dry out.
Here’s her mug shot:
