I heart creepy

Correction…. I saw the ad for Caroline and immediately though it was a Tim Burtan film, but it’s not… it’s directed by Henry Selick, who also directed A Nightmare Before Christmas. Thanks to Karen for setting me straight.

It’s not even playing in my tiny town… I have to either go to Coos Bay or Eugene to see it.

Coraline.com is the movie site and there’s cool things to do on there, like making neat-o flowers or giving yourself button eyes. {In the movie, the villiness likes to steal children’s souls and sew buttons in their eye sockets}

Here are my creepy pictures…

Tweeting on Twitter

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

Reading on the topic of getting blogs noticed, art noticed, etc. I keep seeing ‘join Twitter‘ over and over. So I did. If you aren’t already tweeting on Twitter, you might not know what it is…
It’s basically ‘micro-blogging’…. you post what you are doing at any given minute of the day, or where you are browsing on the internet, etc. Other Twitter members “follow” you, generating interest in what you are doing. (Tweeting is their cute term for posting)

Hmm…. for most times it’s hard to come up with a normal blog post that might appeal to more than one person, so I’m not convinced that following me around my day and hearing when I eat cereal will be much fun, LOL. On the upside though … you can ‘tweet’ from your cell phone, so when you do have something ingenious to share… it can be done on the fly and you don’t have to log onto your computer.

So…. if you want to know all the little details of my life….

So happy

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

I’m so happy that I’m in Suzi’s class…. I’m not only getting so much out of it, but it’s giving me the reason/excuse to get some studio time in.

Check out my slide show of the steps in creating a painting on the birch plywood.  CLICK HERE for the”full screen” version to get the best view.

And this one, waiting for a few more layers and some beeswax:

Getting my homework done

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Well you know me and journals… I love to collect them, but I’m not good at keeping at it.  I guess I’ll have to make an exception for art goddess Suzi Blu.  For Suzi Blu… I would do anything ;)

Part of our homework is to create a healing art journal.  Nuturing our feelings while we do our art is important to Suzi, so the journal is required.  I made mine from paper bags, binding it with those circluar binder clips so I can add more pages if needed (ha!), and tying it up with fun ribbons.  The built in pockets from the opening of the bags lends itself to tucking in my sketches, poems, or whatever.  Fun!

Oh check out that clear ribbon in the last pic… that’s new in my shop! (shameless plug)

a Very Plain Martin of my very own

Monday, August 11th, 2008

The softies on Etsy are incredible… and I’ve been a fan of SweetNellie‘s for a while.  While being such a cat person, I couldn’t help but fall in love with Very Plain Martin.  I finally got one, and he’s the cutest thing ever.  Look at his cute hat!!  I have him sitting atop my couch and my kitties have taken a few naps next too him… he’s even irresistible to them!

Sick Kitty… an auction to help & a freebie for thanks

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Oh my poor little Goliath is sick and still at the ‘hospital’.  The vet said he would call me today if I could come pick him up, but no call.  I am sitting on pins and needles waiting to talk to them, when they get back in the office tomorrow.

I’m wracking up quite a vet bill, so it would be really great if you checked out my auctions.  I’ve got prices slashed on the great magazines I carry in my shop and will be adding some supplies as well.  OR you could have a nice little shopping spree at my shop at www.artwerx.us!

Thank you!!  OH and as a thank you for your generosity in helping to raise money for his bill, let me know in the check-out either in my shop or in my auction that you are “Helping Goliath” and I’ll include a free sheer, house shaped mini album with your order!

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

My home and native land!  Well not my home anymore, since I’ve been in the good ol’ USA for 11 years now.  I’m so proud of my fellow Canadians, who have made some great stuff for the rest of the world to enjoy!!  I made a quick page of some inventions that will probaby surprise you, but it’s just the tip of the iceburg!
