…Time took nothing away
Friday, January 19th, 2007Oh how I love the comfort of being with an old friend. My friend Mia came into work today to surprise me… she will be in and out of town for a while. I wish it were under better circumstances – my heart goes out to her Dad right now. Anyway – we went out for dinner to catch up and it was so nice to be a with a friend and fall right back into each other’s lives and never have a quiet minute. So nice to reconnect and just have that familiar feeling of comfort, kindness, and the bond… time took nothing away. We shared a great dinner and 2 hours flew by like 2 minutes. Thankfully she’ll be back next week.
So I had the MRI. It was not fun, but not the worst thing I ever did. The soft white light made it bearable and they played my John Mayer cd, so his sweet sound helped calm my nerves. The only part that REALLY FREAKED ME OUT was one of the sequences made a horrible ‘alarm‘ sound and vibrated quite a bit, so I thought those crazy ‘what if’ thoughts…. like “what if the machine is broken and the guy doesn’t know?” and “what if the the tsunami struck – would I be stuck in here?“
I have mixed feelings over the results. They found nothing wrong, so that’s terrific, yet at the same time, I have no answers to why my migraines are worsening and any leads to a cure. Ugh. Is it all in my head? Pun intended.

I just love love love my new bracelet from Amanda. Her special touches make her designs unique and oh so pretty. This little gem has a dragonfly charm and a tassle at the clasp – a very nice touch! She also spoiled me with Bath & Body Works goodies that I haven’t had since living in Los Angelas – so that was a real treat! I’m so thankful to have spent my birthday with her – not only because I love spending time with her, but she made my day something to celebrate.
My poopy husband gave me his usual gift….. nothing. I try to tell myself ahead of time to expect that so I’m not upset – but you would think just once he would make an effort for me. He even knew I was upset so he tried to make it up to me by buying me flowers the NEXT day. This would be a nice gesture if he did that right, but he didn’t. Let me give you some history here – not only did he ask me what I wanted for my birthday (which let me to believe I might actually get something this year), but we also had this major ‘flower lesson’ at Fred Meyer the other day. (God forbid he get me nice flowers at a Florist, but he is the cheapest guy on the planet – so I’ll take the Fred Meyer flowers over nothing). Well almost – so we looked at all the flowers they had a few days before my birthday and he was asking me which ones I liked. I showed him sunflowers, peonies, gerber daisies – all kinds of affordable stuff. Then I showed him the ones I absolutely hated…. garnations… those tiny spotted ‘lilly’ looking things (don’t even know what they are called), crysanthimums, etc. I even commented that they are the ‘doggie doo doo’ of the flower world, which he thought was funny – so I know he was listening. So guess what he brought me the day AFTER my birthday? You guessed it – the crap of the flora world.
I KNOW we don’t have money for expensive jewelry or for him to take me on some fun and fabulous shopping spree – but come one…. don’t try to mend my broken heart with a slap in the face. I’m still furious – and he’s playing the ‘poor beaten puppy’ role with me so I’m supposed to feel sorry for him, being a dick to me. WHATEVER! I was hoping that venting here would make me feel better, by releasing it, but so far I’m just refueling my dissappointment. Oh and did I mention my dad didn’t call me either – OF COURSE. I hate men, I really do. They can all go #@$% themselves.
So Amanda – you probably have no idea how much your presents and dinner out mean to me!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING ME FEEL LIKE I MATTER!
Birthday
Thursday, June 15th, 2006Yikes, I’m 37 today.
Tonight I’m going out with Amanda to have delicious mexican food at our favorite local spot and enjoy the yummy margaritas – the blackberry ones are calling my name.
The other day I was eating an almond hershey bar and there was this little note inside:
“Candy is a treat. Eat responsibly” Well – that just blew the wind out of my sails. Maybe they should have written that on the outside and I wouldn’t have bought it in the first place. Well I probably would have – but I would have dismissed the shame in an instant and bought it anyway, instead of feeling huge amounts of guilt as a melted the chocolate in my mouth so I could crunch the almond last.

She is an amazing bead artist and you must check out her etsy store: BellaAzule.etsy.com I can’t go anywhere without people gushing over my necklace, when I wear it – she’s amazing. Why not treat yourself to something today – she only chooses the highest quality beads – and her prices are FANTASTIC!
I’ve just sold another painting/collage in the Small Picture Encore Show at the FEC. I’m so excited to have have 2 out of 3 at this show. Tomorrow I’ll take in another new one to replace it. I’m doing the Snoopy happy dance right now.
I put some big paintings/collages on eBay tonight because they had a listing sale. They are a bigger ‘chuck of change’, but not as high as I was quoted to charge. I’m a firm believer of ‘art for everyone’. So if you have some mad chedda’ that needs spending, head on over and bid away! Head over anyway – even if you are window shopping :)

Coast Video

Saturday, February 4th, 2006P, this is for you because I have not voice to call you till I’m better, and I lost your email address, and didn’t know if you checked it very often.
When we were on the phone the other day, I found out afterwards that you were calling to give me you good, no GREAT news – and what did I do? I hogged the conversation and made it all about me. I’m so sorry! You just let me carr-on till the phone died and that’s just like you, to nurture everyone, being a good friend. Mom told me your news and I couldn’t be more relieved or happy for you! I’ll see you soon, thankfully. We are coming up at the end of next month.

Did you watch Rock Star: INXS last year? I did because I love INXS, and the concept of the show was fun. I watched faithfully all year, and fell in love with Marty and his quickiness. I knew that JD was a better fit for INXS, so I think it worked out perfectly that JD won, and Marty – who already had a band – is getting the exposure he needs by opening for INXS on their tour.
So…. my pal Sandy treated me to a weekend of INXS, because she is totally in love JD. I wasn’t so much, but after watching him on stage – wow – he’s pretty delicious. And to put the icing on the cake for Sandy, she handed JD one of her necklace creations and he wore it the rest of the concert. Woohoo!
So off we went, to spend the weekend in Lincoln City to see both nights of the concert. It was fantastic. INXS played both old and new songs and it was amazingly fun. Marty and his band THE LOVEHAMMERS opened the show and I was so excited to hear what their music sounded like, because the only song I knew was Trees. They rock – the bass player is a hottie, the guitar player’s voice is fantastic, and of course Marty – he’s quircky and fun to watch. The drummer, I didn’t see much of. I was in the first row, and he wasn’t on a platform, so all I pretty much saw were his drums, but he sounds great!! I fell in love 3 of their songs right off the bat, and to tell you the truth, there isn’t one I didn’t like. It’s not too often you hear a CD and like all the songs. I pre-ordered the CD online – it releases today so I can’t wait till it gets here.
OK, so Marty – thank you for posing for every shot I wanted to take – I just wish I took a better camera, as 90% of them didn’t turn out. I’ll post the ones that did tonight.
