A sneek peek of Amilee

She’s my latest painting.  I did her in a style I Have not done before, and it’s by far my favorite method so far… I think I found “my style”.  I have used all my fave methods and combined them into one style … acrylic paint (made translucent like water color), wood burning the outline, adding in paper like always, but the best part is something new I tried…. instead of using acrylic paint on her face, I left it ‘naked’ and only used my wood burner and some pastel chalks to giver her life.  I love the effect.  Acrylic paint is used on her eyes, lips and hair – to make them pop.

I need to finish her shirt, then get her photographed with my good camera – this is just my camera phone (her background is showing blue, but it’s really more green) and she’ll be for sale on Etsy.  I need to go the fabric store for some organza for her shirt, this weekend.

I love her drips

Lisa’s signature look is ‘drippy’.  If you have seen her other videos you will notice the flowers drip, the moons drip, etc.  It’s really cool.  In this video Lisa paints a fairy house with drippy window frames.  I had a naked birdhouse that’s been hanging out for 2 years, waiting to be painted.  After I saw her fairy house, I knew I had to try it.  It was fun trying a new technique while I ‘lifted’ her idea.  ((Don’t worry – it’s just for me – I’m not selling it or anything))

Here is  my little house…

The birth of Simone

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

the start of SimoneFinally, this weekend I had a creative burst.  I had painted a canvas black to cover a ‘background experiment gone wrong’ and I a woman’s face popped into my head.  I sketched her on and started to paint.

I still need to get her shadowing done, but it’s a start.  I named her Simone.

Her hair was achieved using heavy gel medium.

I have no idea what the background wil be yet.  I usally start with the bg, but she evolved first this time.

Can hardly wait…

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

I joined a crown swap, online.  The theme is ‘bunny ears’ and from the moment it was on, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I’m already finished mine, and it’s not due till sometime in March.  It’s killing me not to post a pic or two, but since the swap partners aren’t even anounced, I shouldn’t do it.  Aagghh.  Usually I’m a ‘last minute finish’ kinda gal – but I was just way to excited for this one.  What a great swap idea… crowns…. I hope this Easter one is the first of many more to come!

I’m also all jazzed up about taking Paulette Insall’s painting class.  She has one going on right now for backgrounds (which is very cool), but I’m waiting for the ‘all about faces’ class.  I’m all signed up and very excited to learn about painting faces!!!
