glass bottles at Crate & Barrel

photo from Crate and Barrel

these cool glass water bottles that look like the plastic ones.  I love how artful they look, with the clear lids and lack of labels, it’s just so beautiful in it’s simplicity.  You can find these lovlies here at Crate and Barrel.

A Tea Treat … you must try if you haven’t already

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

After a very long week of high maintenance personalities, a sick kitty, a broken blog… I treated myself to a little tea luxury.

Forte is my absolute favorite tea.  It’s super high quality and the flavor can’t be beat.  Then there’s the artful appeal, with the silken pyramid infuser.  It just makes you smile and when you smell it in your cup and taste it…. well all your worries just float away with each steaming sip.

While in Reedsport, where our vet is located, I picked up a few of my fave Earl Greys, and tried Flora.  Oh my word, is it soooo delicious!  It’s Hibiscus…  it brews red… it’s sweet and delicious!

Flora =

I also picked up the cafe cup because I don’t like it when my infuser bobs around… you really need the special lid so that it sits in your water nicely and the flavor can come out and mingle in the water.  The cup was such a treat to open from the box.  It’s a wooden box, so you know I’ll be altering that later, and then inside it was wrapped up in my favorite shade of green tissue paper.  Bliss!

I would love to get the ‘dessert’ cups too.  They are smaller in size, meant for brewing the teas stronger, and have nifty bamboo covers that act as the lid to hold the tea infuser in place while brewing, then you slip the cup in it to ask as cool sleeve for drinking it.  They have a whole line of teas that are perfect dessert teas.  Oh the addiction continues!

a Very Plain Martin of my very own

Monday, August 11th, 2008

The softies on Etsy are incredible… and I’ve been a fan of SweetNellie‘s for a while.  While being such a cat person, I couldn’t help but fall in love with Very Plain Martin.  I finally got one, and he’s the cutest thing ever.  Look at his cute hat!!  I have him sitting atop my couch and my kitties have taken a few naps next too him… he’s even irresistible to them!

slide show! Portland Chinese Gardens

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

We made the treck to Portland for Tyler’s INS interview. We got up at 3am to leave by 4am, to make sure we were there by 8am, in case there was commuter traffic on the I5. We got there on time and the whole interview lated 10 or 15 minutes. So, we had the rest of the day to toodle around the city.
We went the Chinese Classical Gardens. It was so beautiful. I would go again anytime – it’s so peaceful and pretty. Enjoy the slide show.

Afterward we walked a few blocks to try a wacky doughnut at Voodoo Doughnuts. Not for the timid – the neighborhood, shop, or eats, lol. Later we made our usual trip to l, then ate at yet again at the Noodles & Co, made the favorite stops at Whole Foods, Anthropology, West Elm, North Face, Sur La Table, and then realized we were walking zombies from being up so early and headed back for the 3 hour commute home, which ended up being almost 4 and a half with the end of day rush hour…. BUT it was a great day!

whole lotta sky

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

I’m working on my biggest peice of art, ever (besides the windows I used to paint). I’m creating my 3rd work in my ‘twilight’ series, and it’s a whopping 24 x 36 inches, which is huge for me. Pat found a clever way for my little easel to hold my canvas, which has helped alot. Here’s a few shots to see it coming along in stages… (still need to add the tree trunks & stars) Oh the quality of the shot sucks, but I didn’t want to take the time to fuss with it – I’ll save the work till the final pic.

While up in Newport at the craft store I found some teeny tiny glass animals. I picked up a green tucan for my Mom and I got this little blue bird for myself. It’s only 3/4 of an inch from tip of the beak to the end of the tail. I have this cute little thing on my monitor where the light from the window can shine through it.
